Hi Folks! This program began with a post on this forum back in 2016.
https://www.sportfishingbc.com/foru...ational-salmon-diet-monitoring-program.64885/
Now here we are more than 1400 Chinook and Coho salmon stomachs later with growing participation, great partners, and funding (at least for now!) thanks to the Pacific Salmon Foundation.
BUT: We still need more representative sampling in space and time. In particular WE NEED EVERY OFF-SEASON STOMACH WE CAN GET.
Instructions: Cut out the whole digestive tract of your catch and bag it with a label in pencil indicating (at a minimum) date, species, location, length, hatch/wild. Freeze as soon as possible and drop off at one of our depots (listed below) or contact us for pick-up (or drop by our lab). You can also pick up bags and waterproof data cards at these depots. Include your email address and each stomach is an entry in a draw for an Islander MR2 thanks to Islander Reels.
