Mabel Lake Chinook

Has anyone participated in this fishery before? I've read that it can be a bit of a combat fishery but comparatively speaking, does it get that crowded? I was out on Osoyoos Lake (3 times this year for Sockeye) and while there were upwards of 75 boats out there at times, I didn't find that it was crowded to the point that you couldn't fish. You still had to be mindful of other boats, particularly on the North end but it wasn't unworkable. Is Mable Lake about the same during the Chinook opening?

not as bad as osoyoos but the fish there are not as abundant imo, in 2014 I fished it with a good buddy of mine we managed a nice 16lb male on a green and white lyman plug hit it on the way down off the rigger. But other then that no other luck the whole day. only had about 30 boats trolling around.

How are the launch facilities? I have a glass boat so my preference is a launch with a dock. I think I read that the provincial park has a decent launch with dock. Are there any other paid or free launches that are worth looking at?
Also, when you went, were you early in the opening or a bit later on? Curious as to how the average run timing works.

Launch at the marina and power up to the north end, otherwise youll be launching in the sand and rocks! nightmare situation. We caught aug 30 usually middle of the run by then, opens on little shu 16th of aug and ends middle of sept. you would have to read the regs for mable but I believe they are the same if not close to

Not a good place to fish solo, when there's a lot of boats around you'll struggle to play a fish and avoid other boats. In Osoyoos it's easier since the little socks are easy to get under control.
