I enjoy eating sushi / sashimi, like I'm sure a lot on board do, but for whatever reason never actually made it myself.
That changed this summer after fishing Port Alberni a day before the start of the derby (caught a 34lb'er btw, which would have made me some bucks just a day later! Doh!).
I had a few pieces of raw salmon, much less than 24hrs out of the water and MAN! is that fresh, delicate and tasty!
I also took it a step further, and did a quick "cure". I marinated it in Kikkomen light soy, sriracha hot sauce, and a bit of wasabi for a couple of hours, and had it with steamed rice. Deeeeelish!
