UV effectiveness

I know that a lot of guys believe in the catching qualities of UV type lures (mostly hootchies) and flashers. I was reading through a copy of Island Angler the other day and noticed an ad for Pro-Cures UV Gel. The idea behind it is to put a bit on your spoons, plugs, what have you and it emits that blueish UV color. I'm wondering if anyone has tried this stuff, what you found as the average longevity on your lure and if it actually works? Or is this just another product designed to "catch the fisherman"?

Here's a link. http://www.pro-cure.com/gel.html

Thanks,
George

Seafood, eat it, then catch more.
