Trim tabs close to chine

I'm getting my trim tabs installed tomorrow and the guy doing it said that they will have to go 1.5-2" (3-4" recommended) from the chine or the kicker that's bolted on will have to be moved over and re-bolted... Has anyone done this and had any spray issues or poor performance? I like the idea of not having to move the kicker but don't want the tabs to function poorly. It's on a Campion 542.

I would try to install them close to the sides like 3/4" instead of 3-4". Not much to width on the transom otherwise a swing out bracket for the kicker? Ide sooner rebolt the kicker than have a wonky trim tab install.

Yeah but if your kicker is in the way maybe having it closer to the chine. On a wider hull you could move them closer to the main a bit. Not much room to work with. Do you have swing out kicker bracket?

Thanks for the pic. I don't have the swing out bracket, it goes right on to the transom.
