The Ucluelet Salmon Festival

There are only 2 weeks left to fish in Ucluelet and participate in the summer-long Ucluelet Salmon Ladder Derby. So far the derby has given away over $20, 000, another $10, 050 will be rewarded at the end of this month. The top 5 fishermen and women of each month will fish off with the top 50 on September 12th for cash and prizes over $30, 000!!! All proceeds are supporting salmon enhancement on the west coast, specifically the Thornton Creek Hatchery. You have until September 3rd to get your fish on the ladder.

Then we're celebrating on September 12th with the Ucluelet Salmon Festival 2010. Festivities will include live musical performances by the Joe Fernandez Band and Left at the Junction, beer gardens, activities for the kids like a bouncerama, dunk tank, face painting, balloons and fishing games PLUS interactive activities and information from the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, The Central West Coast Forest Society, DFO, The Ucluelet First Nations and other vendors. This all takes place after the fish off is over at 2pm, September 12th, in the parking lot of the Canadian Princess Resort at 1943 Peninsula Road in Ucluelet, BC.

You 10 dollar admission to the festival includes a FREE wild salmon barbeque with all the yummy sides and fixings.

The festival moves up to the Army Navy and Air Force Hall at 8pm for a live concert with local funk bank: The Stolen Lighters. There will be a Funky Fisher theme with prizes for best costumes and a 50/50 draw to support the Thornton Creek Hatchery. Cover charge is $10. No minors at this venue.
