I was out yesterday for a few hours....caught 1 8lb winter off the bluffs using a glow pattern hootchie. Anyone else have anything to report? I'm heading out friday, and just wanna know if the Bluffs is still the place to fish. Thanks for any info.

There is only two places to launch.. Jock's Dock (in the harbour next to closed Sooke hrbr Marina)and Sunny Shores (in the basin, first one you come to drivin west)We usually fish along the 20 fathom edge from the harbourmouth west towards Otter pt...past the bluffs past the Tin shed up to the Wells o Weary trailer park. If nothing caught put the gear down 30 ft deeper and move out to 150'to 180'. Spoons, glow hootchies and the odd anchovy(when we're hard up)is the tailgear of choice.Jelly fish,Betsy gold,Sooke Special,Black Cherry and red HotSpot are the fav flashers.

On sunday we fished the bluffs and got nothing,so we kept moving out. Eventually we ended up at about 500ft fishing 230ft down and started getting fish right away, just before dark.Never really fish that deep for them, kinda strange.(purple haze teaser head+large anchovy)seem to work.

C'ya on the water.

Hallilama... Sounds like we fish a similar area and style.

Jelly fish hootchie and or a green glow chovie for me. I like the glow flashers or plaid jellyfish flasher. I only use the jellyfish plaid for winters they seem to like all the flash. I like something more subtle for the big summer fish.

Tips.

Hey Tips if ya see us out there, give us a wave,or stop and show us your catch! Now its hali season I'll be only catchin salmon to use their frames as bait...mmmmm good.
