Sole

So I'm trolling off Neck Point Sunday about 100 feet down in 140-150 feet of water and twice pulled up a small sole. They even hit hard and triggerred the downrigger release. I thought they were only at the bottom....Is my depthfinder out? (it shouldn't be..its fairly new)
What is the minimum size sole that is worth keeping? And there were no salmon to be found.

It''s not unusual to catch them while trolling they do come up sometimes for whatever reason.
Sole is good to eat but finicky to filet and cook.
