So I've watched on T.V. and read in the Province how its all o.k. now. There is no problem with the sockeye because look at the size of this run. So how big will next years run be ? [?]
In a word, dismal........Look at the counts for the last three years at the PSC's web site....even though fishing was closed for most of these years, there just simply wasn't enough spawners to perpetuate much of a return in the next three years. Unless there is some sort of miracle survival rate, the fraser sockeye cycle has been decimated to 1 year with potential excellent returns, 1 year of possible good returns & 2 years of borderline disastrous returns. The reasons are numerous & can be debated for years, but the bottom line is this is where we are now....only Mother Nature can fix this man made mess if we are smart enough to let her.
