Yeah the basic salmon brine works, but use 1 cup of demerera sugar and some soy sauce it really imparts a great texture and flavour.;) eman

I will tell you one thing mt leave the skin on and dont smoke/cook it as long as you would for salmon as it really dries out fast as there isnt much fat content in halibut.I learnt that the hard way.

Ditto.
Dried out salmon is great, chewy salty/sweet jerky.
Dried out halibut is pretty much inedible -- like cardboard, but less juicy.
