Scotty 1106 grinding noise?

One of my 1106's is making slight grinding noise both going up and down. I removed the belt and activated the motor and the noise seemed to go away. This may be because there is no load on the motor gear. I have removed the brake plates and brake shoes, cleaned and reassembled but no change.

Any suggestions?

No. It was clean.

look for plastic dust. It could be the sprocket that drives the belt has moved up due to the cotter pin that holds it in place failing. Makes it grind on the pin it turns on. Happened to one of my 2106’s

check to see if your spool is warpped? running braid or wire?

Turns out it is the motor bearing. Thanks to fish assassin for guiding me in that direction.
