OFFICIAL 2015 Vancouver-Howe Sound-Sechelt Reports Thread

I was at the eastern end of the hump this morning and managed to land a 15 lber.
114' on a army truck hootchie. Other lines had glow white hoochies but no action on those.

Several Guide Boats had a fantastic day today. More than 1 limited their guests. Get in the fish, then stay ion the fish...that's the key. The largest fish of the season was moved upwards today...in Vancouver waters... I'll leave it to them to post on their reports but It's the largest April fish I can recall getting hauled out in recent years.

Anchovies and Spoons then Hoochies Were the most productive in that order.
Yup I heard about it and its a Dandy too,

Can't wait to hear the story. Sounds like it was north of 30?

Hump was slow for us on Sunday... we got one hit and landed it, 14lb white. Right before the high slack tide.. we matched the hatch --> 125', custom flasher (black blade + glow tape) and oil slick hoochie.

Was out at the Hump today. It was pretty lumpy! Lost one on a white hoochie and got sealed on another on a choive. Got the hits at 115 and 130 feet. We were being tailed by the same seal most of the day. He even grabbed a Pacific Cod off the line. He's a big beast of a seal!

Nice fish! Do you ever post your gopro videos on YouTube or anything? That'd be a fun one to watch!

Yes, I've got a few on youtube. Here's the one from Saturday when the seal took everything. Not all that interesting. I brought a co-worker for his first time ever fishing. https://youtu.be/lO4bdaw4FCc

Here's a few more that aren't relevant to this thread.

I checked the winds and it looks awesome for tomorrow at the hump, I feel a cold coming on. I will report tomorrow.

Super calm out today....first trip since last year for me and jumped in with my buddy.
Dropped prawn traps then headed out towards the Hump.
1 undersized by a few cm's and one about 16-17lbs, dragged 5 p-cod for who knows how long those darn pesky bastards.
Spoons down 70-120 with flashers. A fair number of boats out....like a pond in the afternoon.
Ended up with 250 prawns, awesome day!!!

looking better for Friday wind wise from the forecast but who knows:confused:

Slow yesterday at the hump. Managed a 13lb marble, and 1 undersize. 5 hours on the troll. Only saw one other boat bonk a quite small fish. Everyone was very spread out though. Beautiful conditions.

If anyone is looking to head out today....was out for a run on the beaches and she's like glass out there this morning.

Dumb question - how deep is it at the hump? Maybe I'm looking at the wrong spot but it's south of Bowen by a few kms, and about 400 feet deep. If that's the place, are you fishing at around 150'?

Nice story about the hump fishing. About 3 years ago, we are camping and I invited the old guy in the next campsite and his about 9 year old grandson out on the boat. We fish the hump. Kid is going through grandpa's tackle box and finds a lure he likes. Wants to fish it on his light weight spinning rig. Grandpa says no, as is not what we fish here. Kid still wants to fish it, so I tell him, why not. Yup, Only fish we catch that afternoon was a really nice Pink on that lure.

Yeah fish from 90 to 150 feet. Stay on the fish when you find them.

Yup..... ;).

Sangstercraft, as I mentioned the other day (I think?).....we got all our fish and strikes likely within a 100 or so yards of one another; pretty much in a tight area. Also spoke to a buddy on his guide boat the same day; he and a couple other guides were on them and doing the same as us but they were further to the southeast on the Hump compared to us.
