I would try it if I could figure out how to mount the trap puller, and battery, on a kayak.

Actually a good idea for those worried about trap thieves. Use spectra and reel up with your halibut gear. Can't see the low life thieving scum hand pulling 350 feet of braided line. Or even a 100 feet of braided crab pot line.

How hard can it be to crank a trap up?

THere is alot of drag would feel like bringing up a 40 pound hali with no fight back. Just hope you dont get a full trap or a few startfish.
