About the Tahsis to Gold River Road. Interesting your comments. I drove it yesterday- not so bad. May be what your use to. The road is 47% Paved & the rest is quit good for a gravel road. Would agree if you have a large heavy boat you may be better off to launch. in Gold River (approx 50 minute run to Tahsis) Depending on boat & water conditions. But still drive the pulling vehicle around so you have transportation while you here & if you need to pop the boat out for any reason its here
Interesting we had lots vehicles come into the Marina to day for the long wkend. Everything from a $400,000 motorhome to the other end a smart car. Yes most are pickups & SUVs put a fair amount of everyday autos. Yes & Lots of boats behind at least 1/2 the vehicles. Our parting lot is chucker block Full.
Having said that the trick is slow DOWN. 50-60km per hr. From Gold R. to Tahsis will get you here in about 1hr 15min.
There is lots to see Water Falls, vistas, & Lots MORE + wild life Black Bear, Elke, Deer & More. Slow down the extra 15-20minutes
it is worth the time from the safety standpoint & lots other thing to experience. Relax you're going fishing
If you launch in Tahsis There is no Launch in or out & little or No security issues.
Do not disagree the Chinook are inside on both sides of Nootka Is. Lucky for all of us!! However if you are looking for Ling, Hali & Coho To add to your catch- Esperanza is most likely a better bet. No need to go out to the "T" for that.
Albacore Tuna are very close to our area. Will go take a look/Catch next week
