Hi guys,

In the market for a new sonar/gps unit since some low life stole my boat bags loaded with all my electronics and fishing gear from my garage.

I wanting some input from anyone who has experience with these units. Previously, I had the dragonfly 7 pro and want to step up a bit. I really liked the Wi-Fi option to mirror the various screens on a tablet or smartphone.

From reading many others post on sonars everyone seems to recommend the p66 transducer.

Is this better than the totalscan transducers? Sorry very new to this technology.

Is the side scan/total scan worth it or handy in the Chuck?

Cheers thanks for any insight!

Or if you feel that this is an even better unit in the same price range please don't hesitate to comment.

if you can jump to the carbon 7 then thats the lastest out.
but a gen 2 or 3 hds with a p66 is a good proven combo and used by many
even with a evo 2 and a p66 .
the total scan is just a cover all bases and unless you do river or real shallow stuff less than 100' forget the side scan in the chuck ..

the simrad go is touch screen and could be a pain if you running on bumpy stuff
so something with touch and buttons is a good choice
also has limited networking so keep in mind if you want to add a second unit later down the road
there is deals to be had on the gen 2 and 3's so look around
even with evo-2 BOE marine where doing reman's on the 12"-16" for silly money but still out of my budget.

or if you can find some one upgrading don't turn down used good equipment.
or open box stuff .....

last year I got to try both Lowrance HDS gen 2 and Simrad Evo 2

I bought the Simrad - on the evo models I love the dial or touch option
