LOL! Now that looks familiar!
There was one particular lake in the NWT that held a lot of rather large lakers when I was living up there. We'd take the government truck, complete with an ice auger mounted on it's bed, and set out to do a little ice fishing. That auger drilled a 30" hole and came with multiple extensions. Thickest we ever saw was ~ 17 feet, the most extensions I have ever placed on one of those units! Had to flag the holes to keep the Ladz that were imbibing too much anti-freeze from wandering into them. Loads of effort, but Man were those fish ever HUGE!
