As reported earlier Hoiss Point Lodge has been sold and is moving or may have already moved. I received this letter from the family today and thought I would pass it on for others. Very sad that this fine lodge is gone, but under the circumstances it is understandable. Any way here is the letter:

In Beautiful Nootka Sound, British Columbia

January 20, 2013

With many mixed emotions, the Handyside Family has to announce that Hoiss Point Lodge has just been sold and will be moved out of Nootka Sound in the next few weeks.
It will*be relocated up to Knight Inlet (50 miles north of Campbell River) where it will take over a new life as 'Knight Inlet Lodge', which burned down to the water last September. Knight Inlet Lodge caters to many international customers and operates strictly for bear watching and eco tours. For more information, go to www.grizzlytours.com or www.knightinletlodge.com.

We would recommend booking at another resort or lodge as soon as possible to ensure you can firm up any particular dates you require.
Some suggestions that are close by would be Critter Cove at www.crittercove.com or Nootka Sound Resort (in Galliano Bay- 5 mins from Cougar Creek) at www.nootkamarineadventures.com.

We know that this is disappointing, as it is bitter-sweet for our family as well.
It was a tough year for the family after the sudden loss in December 2011of the owner and builder of Hoiss Point Lodge - our father and friend, Bob Handyside. But with the continued support of the whole family and with the long list of Bob's friends and the many loyal customers Bob had gained over the years, we persevered and had a great year in 2012! We thank you all for that.

We have many long time clientele and gained many more new customers this past season, many of you who have become good friends and so it is sad to see all that coming to and end for us as well.

We would like to thank you all, both the new and previous customers alike, for your past support and patronage of our wonderful Hoiss Point Lodge.
It will be an end of an era!

Thanks for your understanding and your past business.
