Halibut Migrations

Is there much sense in chasing Halibut close to shore as the end of July comes around?
I have done well for large Halibut in relative shallow waters in the spring and usually head off shore later in the year.
I have also found larger Halibut are caught more often on rocky bottoms with the chickens staging on the sandy flats "downstream" of banks, and pinacles.

Any comments on other traits observed by others?

I've made very similar observations. Also in the fall you can pick up halis quite close to shore - especially at salmon bearing creek mouths...
