Garmin radar

Looking to add garmin radar to a gpsmap 942 xs on an 18-6 challenger from silver streak.
do you think I will need a radar post or could it mount directly to the hard top ?
Most likely going for the GMR 18hd

You should be able to mount to the roof height wise but you have a fairly curbed roof so will need some kind of base. Your going to need to move your anchor light too. Might be better to get a small mount with incorporated light.
Take a look at the Garmin Fantom radar. It quite amazing and turns targets different colours depending on proximity and collision course
