Gardening pics, hacks, successes, and or failures

@wildmanyeah asked for some photos of my garden.
We grew a ton of cabbage this year I was researching ways to store it as my wife was shredding it and freezing it. Because I’m lazy I was looking for a better way. Somewhere I read that you can burry them upside down and they will keep all winter. Well that was a bunch of *****, but I did plant three heads of compost.

The potatoes were a month early for us this year, they were still a good size and we got about 400 lbs So lots for us and the kids.

We have been getting at least a bowl full of tomatoes every second or third day. My wife has been making spaghetti sauce and I have started making salsa which Joan is calling Too Hot For Mamma.
the cauliflower has been good for us this year. It seems every year we get one vegetable that doesn’t do well. Last year it was cauliflower, this year it’s Broccoli. It’s weird because they are so closely related

We harvested the squash today, they are safe in the cold cellar for the winter. It was a banner year for them here.
The feed sacks are full of potatoes

Can you describe your cold cellar? I have a 1400 square foot basement, but half is only about 5" 10". Could I wall off a small room and insulate it from the heat of the registers and furnace/hot water tank? Maybe keep the wine in there too?

It's the under side of our veranda. I insulated the walls with Roxol and vapour barrier ed the wall against the house to help with any moisture issues from the fruits and veggies, the ceiling is un insulated. It's about 30 feet long, I put 6" whisper vents on each end, the one on the shady side of the house is close to the ground, and the one on the sunny side is near the ceiling. These allow for air movement through the room pulling warm or cool air depending on the season. I can open or close these depending on temperature. It stays quite cool in there in the summer, and has never frozen in the winter. It would be better if it was deeper in the ground, but it's what I had to work with.

Picked the last of the Bell Peppers yesterday! 210 days from start to finish....Best Regards
