C.S. Just moved to Comox last year in August only been out twice going out this thursday. Spent the last two months doing alot of things to the boat. Last year did alot of beach fishing for coho's at the royston wrecks then when the river opened fished there had a blast and caught alot of fish. I use to live in Nanaimo and fished alot from shore at rocky point. I also fished in port in Sept's Derby. I do agree the Comox Valley is a great place to live. Where Do you launch your boat from ? Off to work I go wish I could be fishin instead My Escape

I grew up in Comox and after moving around a bit find myself just across the pond. Comox is indeed a great place.

When I was a kid my Dad would take us out off king coho or we would launch off the air base boat launch. We fished Coho's with herring strip after a flasher, 6 oz of slipweight, and about 25 pulls of line. We always caught fish and sometimes lots of them. That's when I first became hooked on fishing.

I prawn, therefore I am.

Bob W are you still fishing the same way or do you use a diferent set up now? Love the idea of not fishing with a flasher, I know there was a day when courtenay had its own tyee pool right in front of the dock, boy those where the days to bad I wasn't there. I have lived on the water for over 30 years but got hooked on it thanks to some trips to port renfrew before all the limits really set in. I remember spending all day almost fighting just to get the line down without getting a nice solid coho 8 to +10lbs on the west coast that is. Only the last 6 years I started fishing this side. I relly saw a new side to fishing in Nanaimo starting 5 years ago when some one introduced me to shore casting wow home by 9 am some times limited out with out any hassles of taking the boat out. Last two years alot of seals taking your fish got a little discouraging. Great place to learn from guys who have fished for 40 or more years and willing to teach you..
But I muust say that nothing beats being out on the boat... While enough story telling thanks for the reply... M.E.
