first choice in downrigger braid

Are you running cable under the braid to make the counter better? How are you attaching the braid to the spool? To run 200' deep, how much braid is required? Scotty 200#.

I have been using Scotty 175 lb braid for a quite a few years with 15 lb balls. Never lost one yet and the blowback isn't nearly as bad as stainless steel or the 250 lb Scotty braid. I don't have trim tabs or trolling motor ring to rub against though. If I was to go to 20 lb balls though I think I might go up to 250 lb braid, just to be safe.

Scotty 250--- got a "deal" and few years ago when I switched from wire... Still going strong.. One small screw up on the rigger spool two years ago, that required a cut..... double uniknot and all is fine. I have gone to 50lb braid on my reels and that seems to offset the slight extra blow back from the 250lb Scotty braid
