There are events all over the province where folks can go fishing in fresh water and on the salt on the Fathers Day Weekend without having to buy a license.

Many communities and fishing organization host events that promote fishing opportunities for virtually any age bracket. WITH NO LICENSE REQUIRED.
The event that I am involved with is held at the Courtenay Fish and Game trout pond on June 14th and 15th from 9-4 daily. Right now there are 1000 pan sized rainbows ( up to 1.5 lbs ) in our pond and its being restocked with another 500 on Thursday. Its a basic worm and bobber fishery ( and if you are hi-tech-- a powerbait fishery) . But when you catch a fish, our members will clean it, bag it with your name on the bag, and place it on ice until you head home. While is is a basic fishery-- it is NOT a slam dunk. for two weeks our club has been hosting seniors, challenged individuals , and others at our pond. While our members were successful making sure that virtually everyone caught trout-- it took tenacity to make it so!!
So who is this program aimed at?????? Those anglers that used to fish, but drifted away,and those that have never had the opportunity to enjoy the sport. Age does not matter.. 2 yrs to 102 yrs. So why not get the kids, granny or grampa out for a day at the pond?..
