Today's choice to share is a group of triplets HARDY Bros. "The Silex" centerpin reels. Don't ask me why I have three of them. I simply have a habit of sometimes not being able to say no.

Here is a "special" islander MR2 that I won in a draw that BC sportfishing magazine did to celebrate their anniversary. Note the special serial number as the magazine started in 1978.

Fishing on the ocean is what I enjoy the most. But, I also enjoy walking rivers and drift fishing gear. Here’s a couple centerpins, made by Don Campbell, a machinist from the Fraser Valley. One is a bushing reel and the green one is a bearing reel.

A great display of beautiful wooden reels. I am uncertain of The era for clock, but my best guess is during Bill Hooson's time from 1977 forward at one point but before selling the company to Art and his partner Mark. The PEETZ & Son reel is sometime after the 2nd World War when Ivan came to work with Boris. The PEETZ Tackle I believe was when Ivan and the family ran things in the 50's to mid 1970's. The other reel is a gorgeous English Knottingham reel. I love the boat shelf, makes for a nice touch and great display.

The superba was owned by one of the founding members of SSBC. I've fished it on the stamp just as I got it. Beautiful reel.

A John Milner I bought new from him, again a beauty to fish..

Couple of Hardy Perfects, the 3 5/8 was owned by order of Can recipient Ralph Shaw, I was lucky enought to buy this from his estate. Great guy, met him a # of times at Courtenay fish and game I loved reading his stories in his column printed in local paper when he was alive.
The 4in was picked up this past yr in Newfoundland.

Allcocks Match Aerial that I picked up from @Bryan Allen yrs ago , I think it was @Fish Assassin s? I just liked this and wanted it. again another beauty that spins forever..I've never spooled it up

And last but not least on this shelf
the Peetz Reel Alarm clock (have 2 of these) which works perfectly

Here are some BC manufactured reels and a copy of a Vancouver Sun article authored by Lee Straight describing the return of sporting tackle to retailer's just after ww2. I would like to add original boxes or paper work to my collection .I mainly collect BC vintage fishing tackle and decoys.

It's truly very hard to beat the functionality, reliability, sound and beauty of old school reels. Hardy is one of the amazing examples that we have available to us. Very nice collection.

I’ve been collecting Centrepins for a long time. Got to the point where I sold off a bunch because they were just to valuable and you couldn’t really use them. Original IMW prototype, and some one off’s from Norm MacDonald and John Milner I sold 3 or 4 years ago, I couldn’t say no to the prices offered.
I have one MacDonald left and it my only bearing pin. All the rest are bushing. I still have a couple of Milner’s that I had John make for me, I don’t really use them any more. The Silex and Superba I use the heck out of. They’re truly bulletproof.

I have three Peetz reels that need to get used soon. Two are well used. One is old (1970’s?) but minty fresh and I got the original box for it. That one hangs on the wall in the foyer but I’ll be using it.

Here's another retired reel from my colorful tapestry of fun to me reels. Many I have wanted since I was a child others I simply picked up along the way throughout my life thus far. It's hard to turn them down when you love fishing history as much as I do. The HARDY SILEX SUPURBA was one that i could not say no to.
