Electric brake controller

I have been told that if I want to tow a bigger boat or a RV I will need a electric brake controller. Dont need this right now as my surge brakes work just fine.. but if I do have to switch to electric brakes what am I looking at in cost?

Many vehicles will have terminations on the fuse block to plug the controller into with an optional harness you buy with the controller, makes wiring simple. Last one I bought was Prodigy.
