Cuts of meat on sale

Only problem with the Thrifty Foods Oyster sale is they have yet to get any oysters. I guess shipping problems. Went yesterday to two stores and both have yet to get their shipments. Called this morning and still no fresh oysters and they said check back this afternoon.

I'm in, what's your method of choice, Reeltime?
100% picking some up if they're there. BBQ until they crack open, split them open and add butter, hot sauce, and a bit of whiskey. We used to make a whole bar of ingredients at the grill so people could make their own. Shallots, garlic, parsley, different booze. Lots of fun.

Thanks for the heads up on the oysters, I'm the only one in our family that can enjoy eating raw oysters, a little squeeze of lemon and I'm good to go. However, usually when the tubs are on sale, my wife prefers to have me make our own version of Rockefeller. Of coarse a given amount of garlic, shallots, green onions, hot sauce, spinach, and an exotic cheese. Bacon always! Usually, a sharp cheese like the Costco size Welsh sharp cheddar. Plus I usually finish it off with some drips of Harvey's Bristol Cream. Broiled in the oven at 450 F for 10-15 mins. Plus I use the shells to make these in, and reuse them about a dozen times before replacing them. IMG_0022.JPG

Thrifty Foods has fresh oysters ( lucky 88, Torpedo Bay, Malpeques) on sale Nov. 25 to Dec 1st.
$.50 each when you purchase a dozen + oysters.

Fishery Notice - Fisheries and Oceans Canada

Subject: FN1257-SANITARY - Rainfall Warning for North Vancouver Island, West Vancouver Island and Central Coast (coastal sections)

A rainfall warning (attached below) for North Vancouver Island, West Vancouver Island and Central Coast (coastal sections), with total precipitation of 100-200 mm, has been issued by Environment and Climate Change Canada’s Weather Service.

Please be advised that intense rainfall events resulting in flooding and/or sewage collection system overflows, especially occurring after a prolonged period of dry weather, can adversely affect marine water quality and potentially result in temporary emergency shellfish harvesting closures. Although there is no proposed closure at this time, shellfish harvesters are advised to monitor weather conditions and warnings, and to plan their harvesting activities accordingly.

Rainfall warning issued for:

North Vancouver Island, B.C.
West Vancouver Island, B.C.
Central Coast - coastal sections, B.C.

Current details:

A prolonged period of heavy rain tonight through Wednesday.

Total Rainfall: 100 to 200 mm.

Locations: Central Coast, North Vancouver Island, and West Coast of Vancouver Island especially north from Tofino including Zeballos and Tahsis.

Timespan: Rain becoming heavy over the Central Coast and Northern Vancouver Island tonight, then spreading to West Vancouver Island in the early morning hours of Tuesday. Heavy rain will persist through Wednesday.

Other Risks: Strong southerly winds over exposed coastal sections Tuesday morning.

Remarks: An atmospheric river will give rain heavy at times over the Central Coast and northern and western sections of Vancouver Island.

Heavy downpours can cause water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Rising freezing levels and snowmelt may contribute to increased runoff.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment and Climate Change Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to href="mailto:BCstorm@canada.ca">BCstorm@canada.ca or tweet reports using #BCStorm.

Rib Eye AAA steaks or roasts on sale at Thrifty's this week. $18.99 a pound.
A great price for what I find to be the best cut of meat available!
More flavor than tenderloin and better on all counts than New York Strip steaks.
