Cowichan... Anyone hitting it???

Was out for 3 hours on Thursday. Picked up 2 fish in fairly short order. One on orange gooey bob and one on 6" pink worm. Seemed like most people were getting 1 or 2. Lots of pressure but there appeared to be lots of fish. Water still fairly high but visability was pretty good at 3-4 feet.
Good luck

This morning it was cccold! Brrrr...

Way too many guys on the river this morning as well. It loooks like half of Island Outfitters customer base showed up all at once.

I think I'll wait until it warms up a bit before I go out again. Cleaning ice off the guides every third cast isn't my idea of fun anymore...

Gooey

agree with the #'s of guys today holy smokes...

unfortunately we were behind about 5 different drift boats all day so no luck.

conditions were beautiful though.

Walked into a favorite hole today. Was amazed that nobody was there, except a drift boat. Pounded it hard but no luck. Ran into S-10 Guy, haven't heard from him in awhile. He said he had hit 2 fish. Only 5 drift boats, that's a lite day. Wait until tomorrow !!!!

Drifted today as well. Chilly morning and lots of boats. Played leap frog with a few and us three pontooning. Nice drift but no fish.
Talked to some guys at the pullout and only heard of 1 fish between 8 rods. then talked to a guy up at stoltz and heard higher numbers....? i dunno.

Watch your trucks at Stotlz, sandy, skutz etc. apparently theres someone cruising the areas.

Took the zodiac with my 9.9 horse jet on the Cowwy today. Launched at Stoltz and motored up and over to that nice little slick on the far side. Got into perfect position and layed a few nice drifts down the "seam", after about a dozen or so casts "fish on". Landed a nice wild buck of about 9lbs. That was it so headed up river, pounded a few more slots and picked up a coloured hen about 11lbs. The fly guys didn't seem to happy to see me. Somethin about a frickin jet sled or something, couldn't figure it out? After that we decided to head down river and anchor up at Satlam, couple nice drifts through there and another hook up. A chrome bar of about 8lbs and a real screemer to boot! Didn't see any drift boats but a few trailers at Stoltz, didnt make it out till noon. Had a late night "planning sesssion" with the boyz!! Fished for 4 hours and were rewarded with 3 fish, not bad for the Cowwy. The trick is you gotta "match the hatch"!! Once you do that, the chrome follows!! See ya on the Flow!!

Good job there Bags. I don't think you would be to popular with some people. That's Steelheadin. Where's Tim and the Diamond Back when you need him.

Hey boys just signed on to this site. Heard about it through a buddy. Been drifting the river everyday for the last three weeks except for the weekends. The fish are there and if you work hard for them yoou'll have good success. Numerous double digit days. We drifted today and got into eleven. Stoltz to Vimy. Careful if your drifting because there is a tree all the way across the river at The washout pool.

Hey Nick why dont you guide???You always claim bigger #'s than all the other pork 'n'beaners out there !!maybe its cause your running murphys ol boat and b.s just follows!

No it's because he is taking Bag's advise and is using those tiny teaser heads and anchovy.

Hey First strike or should I say no strike. If you knew me at all then you would know that I am a guide. That's what I do for a living. But that doesn't matter who cares about that. I have nothing to prove to anyone. There were just a few guys who I thought I could help out with some advice. Do you think that I want more guys on the river? Maybe you should fish with me someday. LOL Ya RIGHT

Right on the mark Chili pepper, I have not fished steelhead for over 6 years and part of the reason was the attitude of some , not all, of the drift fisherman , the banks of the river are a bloody disgrace garbage wise , the broken glass in many of the remote areas is disgusting.
I went in by Sawdust pool last year with my grandson to get him started with a fly rod and spent at least 1 hour cleaning up garbage from the trails right up into the Cougar Run area.

Hey Chille it sounds to me that you might be a bit jealous. You honestly think that all drifters do is floss? I do agree that some boaters have no etiquette but there are good guys out there. Is berry skoal your choice of flavour?
