Hi!
Have a 30hp Yamaha Two Stroke I'm thinking of selling and wanted to get a compression test done. Anyone recommend so where in the Comox Valley and what the approx cost should be?
Thanks

Nick

You would probably get charged the shop minimum, or an hour. It's very easy to do yourself and a compression tester is only $30-$50 for a basic one from Amazon or Canadian Tire. If you can change a spark plug, it's barely more complicated than that if you have any mechanical ability. You can learn how to do it in about five minutes by watching a couple YouTube videos.

Is it a short shaft with a tiller handle? If so I might be interested. I would do a compression test when I looked at it.

Invest your money in the tool instead of paying for labour. Warm up the engine to temp, pull all spark plugs, pull the clip off the overboard safety harness so the engine doesn't produce spark, open throttle fully, screw in tester to each cylinder one at a time and crank the engine 3-4 complete cycles, record readings. Simple
