anyone doing well out there? i know some of you must be, i've seen lots of guys fishing. i've been down to Gartley point a couple of times, 2 hrs each, tonnes of pinks all over, and....... nothing. i'm a novice fly fisherman but used the 'right' flys, was getting the fly out there when they were coming through, slow retrieval, blah blah blah, and....... nothing. i saw one guy catch one. i thought these things are supposed to be so easy to catch??
any coho around yet? any catching them with gear? dam pinks.... i'll have to get up to the Campbell River to witness and maybe partake in the river circus. i'll use the fly rod, spinning rod, bait caster, gear, nets, bow and arrows whatever, i haven't caught enough fish yet in my life as a salmon hunter to become a purist. why is it so hard to catch salmon!!! (no i don't own a power boat)
