[Little Hawk]

Ahhhh - the Mustelids (family Mustelidae). Weasel family.

I kept and bred Ferrets for over a dozen yrs and I can say without hesitation they were the funnest, funniest, neatest, bestest, coolest animals of all the many kinds I've kept.

FYI: the family includes - Sea Otters (the largest), River Otters, Wolverines, Fishers, Martins, Badgers, Skunks, Minks, Ferrets (2 sp) and Weasels (3 sp).

Two primary characteristics set the Mustelids apart from all mammals:

- they have extremely pronounced jaw musculature which - pound for pound - gives them one of the most powerful bites on the planet.

- all have a pronounced scent-gland which is used to mark territory and defend itself; most pronounced in the Skunk.
