Anchovy sizing

In preparation for my trip to Nootka, I plan to pick up some anchovies in Washington and brine them before heading North. I was looking at some today in my local sporting goods store, and noticed there were two different sizes. They were packaged in red and green packages like herring are. I didn't realize they were sized similarly. Is there a preferred size for the Nootka area?

I've never noticed any reference to anchovy size in the posts concerning WCVI, so I'm wondering if the sizing by color is just a US thing. Do suppliers like Rhys Davis size packaged anchovies like herring?
