Lol, from what I can figure out, both seem to be pretty good setups, the 5.7 supposedly has a bit more torque but again I do not know the mechanics of it... the 5.0mpi, again, supposedly has better fuel efficiency. and way more expensive prop and rebuild...I have the carbed 5.7 alpha 1 , so far leg has held up with no issues (probably just jinxed myself lol)
Id also take the 5.0 mpi with the bravo3, if you repower in future and stay with inboard go with the mpi 5.7 and you have the dual prop perfect setup
A pita to work on seapump with the bravo but a nice leg for sure
i used to run a mr drive in my 70mph go fast boat, never had a cooling issue but run a good sized heat exchangerOnly troubles with the alpha leg is the water pump is a little small for the 5.7. I have an Alpha behind my 5.0 mpi and have had no issue yet.the engine was new 5 years ago and the leg rebuilt at that time.About 450 hours so far in my 2459
Yes I am looking at a 2008 2359 Trophy with a new 5.7l alpha 1 with 30 hrs or 2007 2359 with the original 5.0l brovo 3 with 200 hrs.make sure it is 2001 and newer and has mefi-5 computer, the older ones are obsolete
you don't need vessel view on a carbed engine,Yes I am looking at a 2008 2359 Trophy with a new 5.7l alpha 1 with 30 hrs or 2007 2359 with the original 5.0l brovo 3 with 200 hrs.
The 2008 has never been in salt water, can I install the Mercury VesselView on a 5.7 carb engine or does it have to be a MPI version?
its a rebuilt as far as I know...Is it a new rebuilt 5.7 or crate motor? The mpi are just more reliable and efficient I believe the 5l mpi will get the same performance with that b3.
