Slow for me today 9-1 with only undersize and one solid strike at Sandheads.
Was staying in shallow as before retention day I was getting plenty of catch and release beauties.

Hey fine fellow fisher folk, thinking of taking the grandson out, any sign of pinks anywhere yet? Fun for a 7 year-old. Appreciate a good tip, young people don't have the patience to wait all day for a few big ones like we have.

Hooked 2 pinks off of PA yesterday. Glow spoons at 120’ on the riggers. Wasn’t targeting them but they are around.

Wild coho after wild coho after wild coho...just at dusk bam this thing hits and hits hard. Took me 15 mins to get him to the boat them another 10 mins to land. Oops out of day light and our marina up here has zero lights so all in by nav and hand held spot light in pitch black. Time to make a mess of the cabins kitchen. Just south of Robert's creek 69 on the rigger 70 feet deep Jughead squirt hoochie 30" leader green glow 3 knots sog. Just a half hour past high tide. Lots of work to scratch this one up. Had a huge wild coho to the boat unfortunately he was hooked in the gil plate. Cheers

Been lurking here for a while reading and learning, finally will be hitting the water next Monday - Wednesday so hopefully I'll have some good news to share on here! Weather permitting I'm planning on running out to thrasher (that's the only spot I have been able to find so far) but may also peak around the Sandheads area. Have some buddies visiting from out of town so hope to get em on something.

Nasty morning my be ripping 20 to 25 knots 1M plus. I'm just north of Robert's Creek.evening fish today it seems, for me at least.

Good day everyone
New member here in need of guidance. I've been a "river fisherman" for a long time. This year i said its time to join the " Big League" and go on the ocean...so two downriggers went on my 16 ft AlumaCraftt , 70 hp Nissan aluminum boat. Also have a 9.9hp Nissan trolling motor. So firs day: launch the boat at Vanier Park and cross towards Pink Apartments... beautiful calm day ...until I hit the big waves headed towards Lions Gate .Gentlemen, that was the scare of my life. Anyhow , I made it back , tail between my legs to Vanier . My boat is too small for this...
That being said : I took it up Burrard Inlet quit a few times and I've never had any issue. My question for you : i would love to go for pinks (I am very aware of RCA areas fishing closures). When fishing for pinks in the Inlet you guys still use the downriggers or just regular cast and retrieve? When does the pink hit the Arm ? I would love to put a couple in my boat to sweeten the look in my wife's eyes : )). I'm sure you guys here know what I mean...
Thank you so much in advance for reading. Any kind of guidance will be much appreciated

Your boat will be fine in the harbour and around the West Van shoreline as long as you are monitoring wind forecasts and tides. Whenever opposing winds and tides meet near Vanier or the Cap it can get ugly. I fished these waters for years in my 13.5’ Gregor and did well except for days I let my guard down and didn’t check winds and tides close enough.

As for the Pinks there are already some around and they can be readily caught trolling or casting if in numbers.

I have told people about the standing waves, on the ebb tide at 1st Narrows. Told them to stay in the middle and over to the north side. they come back and tell stories of 6' waves they could not get out of, etc.
the fishery at the narrows is over due to the shipping industry...

Suggest Howe Sound as they always have calm conditions. Launch at sunset marina go out 50 yds and start fishing. Chinook or pinks.
