Datapoint, I pull my 16' Fibreglass with the 1.6 Ecoboost. lol
My overall fuel economy in the 5 years I've had it is 9km/litre. Mix of city, highway and towing the little boat to the lake from Langley. No hills.
Gently rolling on the throttle accelerating from a stop slowly is key with these Ecoboosts. Same with on the highway, don't mash the throttle.
Love my 5.0L. I get 16 litres per 100km lifetime.
My buddy likes his ecoboost, it tows his 19' bayliner well, but he's had a couple problems with it. He's like 16.2 so almost the exact same consumption. His is '13 mines a '14.
BINGO, buddy had the ecoboost, traded it in 6 months later for the 5.0L and loves it, me i am waiting for the diesel in the 150, should be arriving any day on the lotsSkip the Eco's and get the 5.0L
I keep a #100 sandbag in the back of my '17 to help keep the wheels on the road and it rides a little better too.
I had a look at some of our Fords, all with the 5.0L and 3.73 gears.
2013 - 126,000km: 15.3L/100
2014 - 62,000km: 15.3L/100
2017 - 14,000km: 14.6L/100
If the average price is $1.25 over that time, this is what it cost for your fuel.
2013 - 126,000km: 15.3L/100 = $24,097.40
2014 - 62,000km: 15.3L/100 = $11,857.45
2017 - 14,000km: 14.6L/100 = $2,554.99
