pea soup on this side of the strait has me tied up. i'd be out there except for the idiots running around as if they could see anything. no radar reflector just WOT on the throttle. no thanks, better weather is right around the corner. but, i am chomping at the bit as some nice chinook have been landed earlier this week, 21, 23, 24.....all from the same area. damn fog!

Out yesterday afternoon for a short fish before some fog quickly rolled in with some winds along with it ... 130-330 off secretary ... managed a 19# spring and a decent sized sockeye which got to live another day

Nice fish High Five!

Fished 7:30am till 2:00pm today. Couple hours at Otter, couple hours waaay out at 450 feet looking for coho, couple hours around Secretary. All we had was three wild coho successfuly released. No hatcheries any more. And no summer chinook (again!!....of course LOL!) Roll on winter, when the springs are so much more cooperative and plentiful...:)

Have to share this story with ya-all. Went out this morning on a paid trip and eventually wandered up way west outside the derby boundary and quickly landed our limit of 4 spring including a double to finish it off. 24, 20, 17 and 13. Then Ken from SG Power had their sponsor tickets given to him as everyone else at the shop had priors. Headed out at 1:30 to the creek and hit a 21 during a short 1/2 hr bite. Nothing until just before 5pm, only us and 1 other boat left fishing. My rod goes off, ken starts to bring is rod and rigger up and his rod trips off...a double. Mine runs a lot of line out, feels heavy both are tail splashing on the surface way behind the boat. We get both fish close about the same time mine is in the low 30's, Ken's is smaller. I told Ken I'll net mine and keep the rod (mine is a contender) and I'm ok with handling both the net and rod. Then I'll net yours. Mine buzzes off again and Ken has his waiting...so change of plan...I put my rod back in the holder, quickly net his and tell him to clear the net. His is 23lbs and while playing mine I look down and notice no adipose fin...so we are now leading the largest hatchery category. He goes to high five me and I don't oblige instead keep my hands on the reel and rod. Then the fish gets strong and starts to run...too strong. Up pops MR Sealion...I had him free a couple of times and strong armed him to the boat..the last time only a few feet from the net...it ended with him busting us out. What a blast and a drag all in the same moment. A day I'll remember awhile. Lippy I was only turning 2000 rpms. ;)

Was out from 10-2pm at otter....no bites, came back ate lunch headed back out to posession at 6-8 pt...2 pinks released, no chinooks.....frustrating day, havent been able to get out much this year, sounds like i shoulda went more west??? Didnt see anyone around me hookup all day and night....

Decided to skip the crowds and try an evening fish solo at Otter. Lines in at 6:30, fogged in at 7:00.Not wanting to feel my way back in the chop, I trolled back in 250' of water.
One good strike just east of the point and one teener in the bag shortly after. Gotta love the scrap of a feisty white spring! 45' deep with a white hoochie.

Good luck to all those in the derby!

Out Friday AM at Muir. Got a nice mid teens white, released a sockeye. Bait with glow green head with a Betsy flasher, 59 feet.

Out Sunday AM at Muir. Lots o sockeye, no springs.

Great days on the water.

Fished from 7:45 until 1:30 pm. Tried Sheringham for about four hours in two spells. Absolutely nothing there! In between sessions went out to 350 feet of water for coho and got a few hits on army truck hootchie and anchovy at 65-85 feet. Released two small wild and boated a nice 7lb hatch. That was it.
Ah well summer doldrums when there are no chinook are around is a great time to get a sun tan on the water! LOL
