Prawning in HS has been poor... but not 0 like most years at this time. We always used to start prawning again late August. We are getting ~12 per two trap set per day... ‍♂️

Round our circle we call that the "trifecta." Nice work! Fished Hole for 2 hours Saturday without a whiff. Decent prawn sets Sat and Sunday... didn't fish Sunday as the outflows made Hole lumpy.

Was out on Bowyer Thursday night to mid day today. Dropped prawn traps and tried going round the north end of Bowen at 9am Friday. 35kt winds, snow sideways and next to zero vis. Had to turn around. Decent prawn haul. Will be back for more next weekend.

I double up and put anywhere from 5-15lb of weight in addition and the Scotty does fine. It's not lightening fast; I think I've timed it at ~6 minutes.

I use the Scotty prawn puller which mounts onto their downrigger mounts. You do still have to guide the line but I believe they are less than the Ace Haulers. Anyhow I've had mine for 2-3 years now and haven't a single issue.

Batter and bruised but not beaten. Was a little sloppy out in the sound. Got lots of nice prawns.
