You wanted input into Salmon, well here is your opportunity!

DFO has now given you the opportunity to have your input directly, so no more whining that you did not get the chance to provide your thoughts.

This appears to be in addition to the group input like the SFAB etc.

I would expect that ALL the GREENS will be all over this by getting as many of their people to sign up and provide scripted input.

Therefore it would be extremely wise of all of you to tell all your friends about this as well.

Hello,

We would like to inform you that DFO has launched a new online engagement platform, Let’s Talk Pacific Salmon, as part of our Pacific Salmon Strategy Initiative (PSSI).

The overall purpose of the platform is to supplement existing methods, opportunities and obligations for DFO to engage on Pacific salmon and the PSSI’s implementation, through the establishment of online engagement opportunities that will focus on various aspects of the PSSI and DFO Pacific salmon activities. Let's Talk Pacific Salmon supports both targeted and broad public engagement and provides an opportunity to contribute your valuable input and feedback.

While targeted engagement with First Nations and Indigenous organizations, key salmon partners, and stakeholders will continue through in-person and virtual bilateral meetings, as requested or required, the Let’s Talk Pacific Salmon platform will be used in some instances to further support targeted engagement. Broader public engagement associated with various pacific salmon activities may also be conducted using this platform, in addition to other avenues (e.g. through DFO’s participation in events such as the Salute to the Sockeye).

Along with the launch of the new platform, we have now also released the first public engagement campaign on the platform, the PSSI Strategic Framework. Through this engagement opportunity, we aim to provide the public with an overview of the strategic framework that is guiding the implementation of DFO’s Pacific Salmon Strategy Initiative (PSSI), focused primarily on information that has been previously shared with key contacts over the course of PSSI general engagement during the past year: what is driving the initiative; the vision, pillars, themes of work and guiding principles; the pathway to results; and the overall engagement approach. We are inviting the public to provide some initial feedback based on the overview provided.

If you are interested in participating in this or future Pacific salmon engagement opportunities, please register at one of the following links:
English webpage https://letstalkpacificsalmon.ca/ or,
French webpage https://parlonssaumondupacifique.ca/.

The one-time registration is quick and easy, and your privacy is protected. Following this registration, you will be notified when new engagement campaigns have been posted for you to participate in.

Sincerely,

Done and done

170 + looks, 4 people said they got involved.

Sent and will add it to the phone calls and emails I send throughout the year whenever a pointless unscientifical decision is made by DFO.

The worst part is, most of the biologists know exactly what the problems are and are in agreeance.

Unfortunately politics and clueless general public supports these decisions that hurt our towns, economies and our Canadian way of life.

Another frustrating part is seeing some of the voices that speak for the rec anglers trying to defend the actions of DFO in the Freshwater scene...

I am registered but find that site to be the same old DFO crap looking for support for what they already want to do.
Have no faith that it will improve the SPORT fishing issues.
lol it x out ********.... bull. {manure}. so tried crap
Every little bit helps.

516 looks at the post, 10 people said they got involved.

Just filled my survey out left feeling its nothing more than lip service so they can say we had a chance.
And they could say, look at the complete lack of concern the sports fishers show compared to the other groups.
if they are not concerned, why worry about them..

I made the statement that consultation has to involve all user groups and not just select ones as is happening now.

This survey feels like lip service!
