which electric trolling motor and battery to buy

I decided to keep my 12 ft smokercraft. I have a new 4 stroke mercury 9.9hp, I would like to buy an electric motor for it. which motor do u recommend? what lbs thrust would I need. also which deep cycle battery do you recommend. my 9.9hp at idle is whisper quiet

This one not the combo. It will start your 9.9 if it has a starter and you're too tired/lazy to pull the cord. I have a 44 Minn Kota. Works good on a heavy fiberglass boat. Mine is old and still works fine, so look for a used electric motor. I prefer to row when flyfish trolling by the way. I only use the electric for dead slow kokanee trolling or when on electric only lakes.

I have a smoker craft Canadian 12. Really light aluminum boat. Would a 30lb thrust motor be enough or do i need at least a 40. I want it for trolling only...
