I found this Rod at a garage sale, 10 ft 6 inches custom made what do you think this Rod would be used for? Uses a Loomis IM6 fly blank I was thinking it would be good for jigging perhaps? 20170813_142728.jpg 20170813_142730.jpg 20170813_142734.jpg 20170813_142748.jpg

Looks like a steelhead/river rod. Could be used for lots of things. Easiest thing might be to find a cheap Abu type reel on it and let beginners downrig for pinks and sockeyes(next year). Jigging would be okay, but jigs would need to be light/small, so shallow for black rockfish and maybe the odd salmon.

It is a steelhead/coho rod. A bit to light for big springs, okay for small springs. Too long for a jig rod. could probably handle 3-4 oz jigs. It could cast a 1 oz lead across most rivers.

ST1284 isn't a fly blank, its a pretty standard drift blank for smaller to med size rivers here on the west coast
The ST in the model # denotes Steelhead.
Good for coho and steelhead on med flows, and a great down rigger rod,
I agree with goathorns, to long for jigging unless you have seriously strong arms IMO.
