Volvo leg came down travelling

I've had Volvo legs on my boat for 20+ years, and never secured the leg in the up position when trailering. It would stay up all winter when the boat was parked. On the most recent trip, we had a 3 day layover in Comox when temps exceeded 32 degrees at times. During that time, the leg went from fully up to fully down. I raised it and secured it so it couldn't come down again travelling, and am now doing an experiment to see if it comes down while stored.

Any thoughts on the cause?

My hydraulic steering cylinder started weeping in the driveway from the sounds of it around the same time. The excessive heat will expand some materials more than others, quite possible you experienced something similar. I cooled mine with a hose and re checked everything problem solved. I do have the rebuild kit on hand now just in case..
