I visited the ramp at Brentwood Bay this AM. Not bad, pay the Band office prior to launching, thats fine. However my observations of Salmon carcasses as being recently filleted, tails intact, app 100, lay strewn on the beach A reasonably estimated measurement of 18 to 20 inches would be accurate. No spots on the tails, Coho bluebacks this time of year?Remarkable,if so however, you probably know where Im going with this. What the hell is going on?
I do remember March/April as being prime Blueback times, circa 1966-70. Bucktailing the surface, 8 fish limit then, easy. Not saying it was right then after the fact. I reasonably assume a large run of Bluebacks entered the inlet and caught regardless of legal size. Three old Prawners there told me about a month ago herring were there, thus the explanation for the Blues.
