Transom Replacementt

Has anyone replaced their transom on a Double Eagle (17 foot) due to rot? If so can you recommend a reliable boatyard/fiberglass outfit near Victoria?

Replacing a transom in a boat that size is not an overwhelming project for one to do themselves. I've done it on boats I've owned from 10-16 ft.
I'd suggest a trip to your library and research the process and see if this is an option for you. I'd be willing to say besides your labour and any tools you might need to buy, it will be under $200 in the end.

I would also like to find someone who is capable of doing this as i need it done this winter...
Cheers.

Mine was done in North Van a few years back.
If you unbolt the rub rail yourself it will save you money.
When it's unbolted, the top half of the boat can be slid forward to access the transom.
After the transom's done, you'll need help bolting the rub rail back on, one guy outside and one guy inside.
