Not headbanger stuff, but some of my favourites from the 80's that come to mind ;

Tragically Hip - When the weight comes down (Album "Up to Here")
Stevie Ray Vaughn - Crossfire (Album " In Step")
Cult - Love Removal machine
Judas Priest - You got another thing coming
Guns'n Roses - Sweet child o' mine (Album " Welcome to the Jungle")

Van Halen: anything pre Sammy Hagar
Early Pixies (late 80s)
Jackyl: Headed for destruction

Thought there'd be more Cindy Lauper, Wham fans on here. 8O's sure had a real mix of stuff, from "GnR" to "Flock of Seagulls". Most have there place and time.

That's a tough one... Lots of great rock groups and songs to pick from. This post will date most of us :)

1. Another one bites the dust - Queen
2. You shook me all night long - AC/DC
3. Another brick in the wall - Pink Floyd

I could never pick a "Top 3". Way too many.....WAY, WAY too many. :)

There were lots of more recognizable bands.....LOTS of "one hit wonders" where their "one hit" was actually a great one and that includes the rockers. Autograph, GTR etc. Then you have to discern....what are you calling "Rock".....do we need longer hair, high top runners, ridiculously tight jeans with lots of tassels hanging from everything worn? :p

@peetz.....LOVE the Cult. Was one of my favourite couple bands growing up.

Errr.......my name is Pips and I DO have an addiction to the Music of the 80's in many of it's forms. :p

wham ....wake me up before you go go (fishing)

bangles Manic mondays ( on the water)

MJ ........ Beat it ( on the bottom of the boat)

LOL LOL

Don't forget...

Glass Tiger - "Don't forget me when I'm gone" (C&R over slot size halibut)

Split Enz - Six Months in a Leaky Boat (time to call the Coast Guard)

.38 Special - Hold on Loosely (gorby client who won't let go of the handles on the reel when the fish wants to go)

Sheena Easton - For Your Eyes Only (gorby client puking overboard)

Genesis - Land of Confusion (birdsnest on reel, twisted lines etc)

Too hard to nail it down to songs so I'm gonna go with Albums.

1. Pink Floyd - The Wall. (Technically 1979 but I'll count it.)

2. Rush - Exit Stage Left

3. Scorpions - Love Drive (also 1979 but enjoyed in the 1980's)

I saw Split Enz in concert Victoria along with Styx... So long ago...

Another vote for The Cult- She Sells Sanctuary
How about Black Sabbath-Heaven and Hell with Ronnie James Dio
Or Boston-More Than A Feeling
A lot of good music in the 80's for sure, but the 90's were even better IMHO.
Look at all the great bands that came out of the Seattle grunge movement alone.Nirvana,Pearl Jam,Alice In Chains,
Soundgarden.Awesome tunes!!

So many good bands and variety.

How about;

George Thorogood, Bad to the Bone
Def Leppard, Rock of Ages
Quiet Riot, Metal Health (Bang Your Head)
And Talking Heads Life During Wartime as an alternate. ( "this aint no party, this ain't no disco, this ain't no foolin around")
