We are happy to be supporting this years derby by offering up a chance for one of our members to win one of these great prize packages. The odds of winning are very good, so if you have already signed up for the derby make sure you follow the instructions above to get your name in the draw. If you haven't, and are going to be in the Tofino/Ucluelet area in early July, register now and get in on a chance at these exclusive prize opportunities!

Only four more days to register for the derby! If you are fishing the Tofino area this weekend, register for the Saltwater Classic and get in on the prizes and fun.

The Tofino Saltwater Classic is open to 125 anglers who compete for thousand of dollars in prize money in a number of fishing categories. The $250 entry fee includes a welcome gift bag with an event-branded shirt, a “Brendan and Friends” meet and greet gathering on July 3rd at Wolf in the Fog restaurant, and a celebratory dinner and silent auction at Marina West on July 4th.

In addition to participant registration fees, the Tofino Saltwater Classic raises funds via the event’s silent auction and by private donations from Tofino residents and business owners from around the province and across North America.

Don't forget, if you register for the derby, be sure to take advantage of the exclusive prize draw for SFBC members for a chance to win the PEETZ Outdoors reel, flasher and lure package, the Amundson TMX 5 Mooching Reel and the Penn Firece spinning reel.

Was thinking of going but then saw the fee....yikes. Guess you have to be a celebrity to fish now too.

I agree it's not cheap at $250/person but it is a charity derby that raises $ for the groups below and you also get a bunch of stuff included with entry (lunches, dinners, swag, etc) so it's pretty reasonable IMO. I'm looking forward to it. Was in it last year as well and the weather made for some challenging fishing. Hoping the seas cooperate this weekend! See you all there starting tomorrow.

The Tofino Saltwater Classic is proud to support the following Tofino community initiatives:

The Wickaninnish Community School (PAC Healthy Food & Library Programs)
Tofino Hospital Foundation
Tofino Parks and Recreation Commission
Tofino Salmon Enhancement Society
Tofino Hospital Physical Therapy Department
Tofino Volunteer Fire Department
West Coast Multiplex Society
Tofino Legion Youth Program
St. Francis of Assisi Church (Women in Need)

was there again this year and same results as last year......................didn't win!!! quite a lump running on the outside so we stayed close to the rocks, managed a few teenagers and one 21# but no money fish. seemed like a lot less fish in the area we were in, I think most of the fish taken were down toward Ukie and off shore.

When is the draw for these prizes? might not be a total loss after all, be there again next year too

And the Winners are:

Thank you to all the SFBC Members who entered the Derby and to PEETZ Outdoors, Amundson and Penn for your generosity in donating these fantastic prize packs!

All the prizes were awarded starting at 4;30 ish on the Sunday (yesterday)

As far as the fishing...it was the slowest i have seen in a few weeks. I don't think the full moon helped as the bit times were short but the was a 36+ fish caught for the winner.

Thanks again to Brendan and his staff for being the driving force behind this great fundraiser for many worthy causes. I personally took out a great group of guys from the Island and we had some good times despite the slower fishing.

Good times at the Tofino derby this past weekend! Fishing was a little slow but there were some good bites for a short while and our boat ended up with a good number of fish... no winners however. Was kinda creepy fishing offshore with all that smoke creating a weird haze on the water.

I'll be back again next for for the derby and it's great to see it growing each year in terms of attendees, sponsors, and funds raised for the many charities it supports.

This was the 5th time to this derby with my bud J-global.
Well put on by Brendan and his crew. It's an annual trip for us. Fishing was slow with just a few springs for us but managed to troll up a nice hali. Thanks peetz and sfbc for the prize pack
