Terminal gear maintenance

Do you lube up terminal gear with something to ensure it's doing what it needs to do? Bead chains, flasher terminal gear that need to rotate and may be prone to seizing up or corrosion......that sort of thing. I will spray WD on some things to ensure they spin but am mindful of scent on any gear and sometimes get concerned it may do harm. The other side of it though is I want gear spinning/rotating efficiently. Do you lube. If so what are you use and frequency.

A lot of guys use hydrotone in their spoon/ flasher bucket.

I just freshwater rinse it and let it air dry.

Once a year/@ the end of the season rinse all terminal tackle in fresh water/leave to dry then drop it all in a small bowl of Corrosion X for a day then leave to drain on a paper towel.

Stinks pretty bad but fish don't seem to care and it's excellent protection I've had some ball bearing swivels for ages and they're still turning smoothly.
