Tackle from days of yore.

I’m going coho fishing tomorrow and was digging through some old gear then came upon this. The Henry Smith Special. My dad and I used these in the 1970’s a lot. ECVI and our favourite coho spot, Swale Rock in Barkley Sound. Should I get it wet tomorrow and see what happens? LOL

They were deadly back in the day and I’ll bet no tackle box was without a couple of these on hand.

I’ve got some old cripple K spoons, some are like a lime green. One of those gets a swim first.

I was looking through some of my old gear I have and found this strip. Put new line, swivel and hook on. Tried it this past season off Danvers. It wasn’t out more 5 minutes. A nice 18 lb spring. Ended up catching 3 nice springs on it.

The middle one has been my go-to for pinks since I started salmon fishing in 2014. It's simply the best one in the odd-year rotation.

I dunked the Henry smith special today. Nice action, wasn’t down long and had a pull on it. Some dummy didn’t replace the old hook on it and the hook broke off. ;-) I put a new hook on and down she went again. No takers in the next half hour so I swapped it out.
Was a tough slog today off Victoria waterfront. I had 5 on in 6 hours and boxed three about 5 or 6 pounds.

I had something similar to this but not exactly the same. It was called Perma-strip.

Curly's Perma Strip-never caught a thing with them finally threw them out.

There was also a brand called a Strootchie... Basically strip made from vinyl. Update from Stormtrooper ... Jim Gilbert made the Strootchie

Found this one in a bag of old tackle given to me. Strip made from thick leather, not sure if it was something you could buy or if the old timer made it.
