Subject: FN1216-RECREATIONAL - Salmon - Region 2 - Squamish River - Chum Salmon Non-Retention - Effective November 1, 2018
Assessment of the Squamish watershed indicates that the return of Chum salmon
to the system is low and cannot support a retention fishery at this time.
Waters: Squamish River
Management measures:
Effective November 1 until December 31, 2018:
- You may not retain Chum salmon.
Variation Order numbers: 2018-RFQ-588
Notes:
Barbless hooks are required when fishing for salmon in tidal waters of British
Columbia.
The term "marked" means a hatchery fish that has a healed scar in place of the
adipose fin.
Anglers are advised to check http://bcsportfishguide.ca for fishing closures
and other recreational fishing information.

Yet there was enough numbers to allow 8 days of netting?
That is the disconnect we keep getting. I realize the FN have won in the courts the right to fish. But as species or specific runs are identified as weak, FN fisheries are still allowed on them. All of the court cases have still said conservation is the number one priority, but DFO seems to have decided conservation is number 2.
