On occasion - They fish them in California. I caught one in '07. My client spent an hour trying to nurse it to the boat (on Salmon gear). We thought that it was a decent size Halibut for a while. Really stubborn, but it would only "run" a short distance each time. It was on an anchovy, one hook of the treble was stuck in a tenticle. Tried to gaff it, but the hook tore out a chunk of squid and he got away.

If you ever boat one of these, be carefull, they do bite!
