Fished Beechey yesterday. Lost 2 teenagers at the boat to seals but we managed to land a 25 pounder without a mark on it. I have to admit that being spooled by a seal with your spring in its mouth is a strange and frustrating experience. Has anyone been successful in retrieving a fish once a seal has taken off with it?

it's near impossible on your own, but if you have a partner
driving the boat he has to get on top of the seal so he can't
get up for air and they can stay down for a long time.
The greed usually takes over though and he want to come up to the top to chew up the fish. If you stay on top of them sometimes they will let it go and then you have to reel like hell, because he'll chase it.
