Scotty brake trouble

I have a pair of 1106's and this past week I was having one of them trip the auto stop and then begin to free fall right away. I switched to braid and I'm wondering whether the knot between braid and gangion isn't sufficient to trip the auto stop. I'm not sure though because the one worked fine but the other didn't with the same loop between them. I checked Scotty's site and they say to contact your nearest repair centre when this happens but I'd prefer to try the repair/maintenance myself(helps me learn). Anybody ever experience the same thing? Thanks.

open the lid you will see the main spool
with what looks like a a plastic spanner that's your manual winder
its held in place by the loose 9/16th's nut underneth that is a ny-lok nut
which will adjust your clutch setting
if its free falling tighten 1/2 a turn clockwise
and check it or more so if until the cannon ball lok's the brake on

should the gangion not auto stop check your green button auto up switch ?

You need to replace the stop spring underneath the spool
